The first of November, the messy forests

I must say, I don't enjoy forest as much in summer, as I do in early spring or late autumn. The forest is too lush in summertime. Impenetrable. With hungry mosquitoes and ticks.
And it's just a green mass of leaves. Unless it's a tropical forest. That's an entirely different story!
I prefer seaside or open fields then. But now the silhouettes of trees and bushes are nicely prominent. And there's so much color!
And the smells are also strong. Different types of fallen leaves emit entirely different scent.
I was sure somebody spilled a jar of pickled red beet while playing outside with my daughter. But it was just a pile of fallen poplar leaves.
I can't remember seeing pink leaves before.
